Short New Year's Eve Toast From the Host (30 Seconds)
A host with four minutes until midnight wanted to say something real to the room and still leave time for the countdown.
Given by Emmett, hosting a small New Year's party. 64 words. The names are made up.
The toast
Quick one, because we have four minutes.
Every year I buy a paper calendar for the fridge, and every year you all write your birthdays in it, usually in the wrong month. This one has nineteen birthdays and a dentist appointment I missed.
The new one is on the counter with a pen. Sign it before you leave.
Glasses up. To next year's fridge.
Why it works: It names the clock in the first line so nobody worries, uses one object everyone in the room has touched, and gives people a small thing to do before they leave.
Make it yours
Borrow the shape, not the lines. Put your own people, your own year and your own detail in each spot, or answer a few questions and get a first draft built from them.
