Privacy Policy

The short version: we keep your speech only as long as the page you get back needs it, we never publish it or use it for anything but your result, payments go through Stripe and we never see your card number, and there are no accounts, so there is nothing to log into and nothing to close.

What we collect, and why

The speech check and the first-draft builder

• Your draft, or your answers to the builder’s questions, plus the role you pick and the couple’s names if you give them. We need these to produce the result.
• The result itself, which quotes lines from your draft.

Both are stored under a random, unguessable link and deleted after seven days. The link is unlisted and the page is marked so search engines do not index it. We do not read your speech, and we do not use it to improve anything.

Purchases

• Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe’s pages. We never see or store your card number. Stripe sends us the email address you entered at checkout so we can send you the link to your order, and a payment reference so we can find your order if you write to us.
• A paid rewrite and delivery pack, with the check and draft they were made from, are kept for 30 days so you can come back to them. There are no accounts, so the link and the order email are how you get back.

Email

We send email in these cases, and only these: the link to your order after a purchase, or your pass link if you buy the Wedding Party Pass; the link to your check if you ask for it with the “email me this link” box; if you gave us your address that way and then opened checkout without finishing, one reminder the next day, once ever; and, only if you add your wedding date in that same box, three short reminders about the speech: three weeks, one week, and two days before the wedding; and, if you sign up for the free email course, its five lessons, one a day, after which it stops; and, if you start a Story Jar and give us your address, the two links to your jar and, unless you untick the box, a note when a new story arrives, at most once an hour, which you can switch off on your jar’s page. Every other email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of them for good. A speech rewritten with a Party Pass credit is never emailed to the person who bought the pass. We do not send newsletters. If that ever changes, it will be opt-in and this page will say so first.

Story Jar

If you start a Story Jar, we keep your first name, the name of the person you’re toasting and their partner’s if you give it, the speech you’re giving, and your email if you add one. People you send the link to give a name, optionally how they know the person, and their story. Stories are shown only on your private page, whose address only you have; the share link can add stories but never shows them. If you ask for a suggestion, the stories are sent to Anthropic’s model to read, the same way a speech check is. The jar, every story in it, and the suggestion are deleted 90 days after the jar was started.

Live speech bingo

If you play live speech bingo, we keep the game, the first name each guest types in, and the squares they mark, so the game works on the night. All of it is deleted two days after the game is started. There are no accounts and no email addresses.

Contact form

If you write to us, we keep your message and address in our inbox so we can reply. Nothing else happens to it.

Site analytics

We use two analytics services. Vercel Web Analytics counts visits and pages without cookies and without identifying you. Google Analytics, when it is turned on, uses cookies to tell returning visitors from new ones and to record events like “a check was run” or “a rewrite was bought,” with IP addresses anonymized. We use it to see whether the site works, not to advertise to you. To opt out of both in a browser, open this page and press the button; a browser extension that blocks Google Analytics also works.

Who else touches your data

These are the only third parties involved, and each one only for the job named:

• Anthropic runs the AI model that reads your speech and produces the check, the draft, the rewrite, and the delivery pack. Your text is sent to it for that purpose only. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, text sent through its API is not used to train its models.
• Vercel hosts the site and runs the analytics described above.
• Upstash provides the database where results and drafts are stored for the periods above.
• Stripe processes payments.
• Resend delivers the order email.
• Google runs Google Analytics, described above, when it is turned on.

We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or pass it to anyone not on this list.

Cookies

Google Analytics, when turned on, sets its usual cookies, which are described above and which you can refuse by opting out. The site otherwise sets none. Your browser may keep a small amount of local storage for convenience, like whether you dismissed the cookie notice, which never leaves your device. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages.

Children

The site is for adults giving wedding speeches. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Deleting your data early

Everything deletes on its own schedule, seven or 30 days as above. If you want a draft or a result gone sooner, email hello@toastdoctor.com with the link to the page and we will delete it. If you want the email address from an order removed, say so in the same message.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that expands what we collect will be described here before it takes effect.
